AWARENESS posters created by students from Casterton Business & Enterprise College have been shortlisted in an online national competition.
School fitness equipment company Spirit Fitness, received hundreds of eye-catching entries in response to their Win A Treadmill Competition launched in May, aimed at encouraging young people to keep fit and to celebrate their sporting heroes.
Now all 14 entries from the college are open to a public vote on Facebook (www.facebook.com/spiritfitnessuk), as the poster with the most Facebook ‘Likes’ will go before the judges and could win Casterton a top of the range Spirit treadmill worth £4,000.
College teacher, Tom Weller, who submitted the student entries, said: “I was really impressed with the designs the students came up with, and a lot of them were clearly inspired by the great success our British Olympians enjoyed in 2012.
“It’s great that their designs have been shortlisted and now we’re encouraging everyone at the school – staff, teachers, students, their friends and families - to go online and make sure they vote, as a treadmill would be a great addition to our sports facilities.”
Among the sporting heroes depicted were tennis ace Andy Murray, gold medalist Derek Redmond and double gold Olympian Mo Farah.
Audrey Burton of Spirit Fitness UK, based in Staffordshire, said: “The entries from Casterton College were really colourful and creative and the students had clearly taken a lot of time over them.
“Now it’s down to everyone at the school and the public to get ‘Liking’ their designs so they have a chance of winning!”
All the entries which have been shortlisted can now be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/spiritfitnessuk, and there will also be runner up prizes of pedometers to encourage students to take their 10,000 daily steps.
